About Containers Direct

Family-run.
Owner-operated. No call center.

Containers Direct is a small, family-run operation. Chris Riley’s been in and around shipping containers since his Brooklyn days, first sourcing crates for a dog-subscription warehouse, then staging a yard for a bar and restaurant row. Every quote on this site goes through our team personally. ZIP check, depot photos, delivered-all-in price, and a follow-up text to confirm the delivery window.

No outsourced call center. No scripts. No drip-email treadmill. You reach the people whose names are on the LLC, and you get a text back in minutes because it’s literally our phone.

Our story

How a Brooklyn dog-box company got me into shipping containers.

Years before this site existed, I was running a dog subscription box out of Brooklyn, NY. Our whole operation was toys, treats, and freeze-dried liver shipped to dogs across the country from a small warehouse on the waterfront. When your unit economics are measured in pallets-per-dollar, you get obsessed with where your inventory lives, and the answer, over and over, was a shipping container.

The first container I ever bought was for overflow storage because our Brooklyn lease was cheaper by the square foot if we put inventory outside. That one purchase turned into a weird education: depots, wind-watertight vs one-trip, IICL grade, tilt-bed deliveries, the whole unglamorous backbone of the industry. I figured out pretty fast that the market was set up to confuse buyers, not serve them.

A year or two later, a friend was building an open-lot bar and restaurant concept a few blocks away and asked if I could source containers for the build. We ended up placing several on the lot, one as a kitchen, others as retail pop-ups and storage. That project is when I realized how much demand there was for someone who actually picked up the phone, sent real depot photos, and quoted a number you could trust.

Fast forward through two other companies I built and exited (USARx.com and URLMonitor.com), and I kept getting calls from people asking where to buy a container. Contractors, homeowners, small-business folks. I’d walk them through it for free for years. Eventually my wife Kelly told me to stop doing it on nights and weekends and just build the thing.

So here we are. Containers Direct is the company I wish existed when I bought my first container in Brooklyn: transparent prices, depot photos with every quote, tilt-bed delivery included, and a real person who remembers your name when you text back.

How we work

Four promises we actually keep.

01

Small team, no handoffs

You text in, a human replies in minutes. We write the quote, coordinate the depot, and follow the delivery to your driveway. Same number every time.

02

Depot photos, not stock photos

Every quote we send includes real photos of the actual container we're offering you, not generic marketing shots. You see what you're buying.

03

Honest grade recommendations

If WWT is right for your use case, we won't upsell you to IICL. We'll tell you when to spend more and when to save.

04

Price-match any written offer

Send us a legitimate competitor quote and we'll beat it. If we can't, we'll tell you where to buy, losing a sale beats losing your trust.
