Privacy Policy

We keep this short and plain. We only collect what we need to get you a quote, deliver a container, and improve this site.

Last updated: April 22, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Riley Ventures LLC, d/b/a Acme Studio, d/b/a Containers Direct(“Containers Direct,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you visit containers.direct, request a quote, place an order, or otherwise interact with us.

1. Who we are

Containers Direct is an online shipping container dealer operated by Riley Ventures LLC, a Florida limited liability company, doing business as Acme Studio and Containers Direct. Our mailing address is available on request at chris@containers.direct.

2. Information we collect

We collect only the information we need to quote, schedule, and deliver containers. Categories include:

  • Contact information you submit voluntarily: name, email, phone number, ZIP code, delivery address, and any notes you share about your project.
  • Order information: the products you ask about, quotes we send, and (after purchase) non-sensitive billing metadata. Full card numbers are handled by Stripe and never touch our servers.
  • Communications: emails, SMS / iMessages, and voice calls. If you contact us, we keep a record so we can follow up and honor our guarantees.
  • Usage data: pages viewed, referring URLs, approximate location (from IP), device and browser type, and events such as “quote requested” or “checkout started,” collected through cookies and similar technologies.
  • Inferred preferences: for example, whether you’re shopping for 20ft vs 40ft, new vs used, so we can make the site and our follow-ups more relevant.

We do not knowingly collect Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, precise geolocation, biometrics, or other sensitive categories of personal information.

3. How we use information

  • To generate and deliver your quote.
  • To fulfill orders, coordinate depot logistics, and schedule delivery.
  • To process payments, refunds, and price-match requests.
  • To send transactional email and SMS (order updates, delivery ETA, receipts, and required service notices).
  • To follow up on quotes you requested, including abandoned-quote reminders, until you tell us to stop.
  • To improve our products, pricing, and the containers.direct experience.
  • To prevent fraud, enforce our Terms, and comply with applicable law.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers we need to run the business, and only for the purposes described below:

  • Payments: Stripe, Inc. processes card and bank payments.
  • Email: Resend, Inc. sends our transactional and follow-up emails.
  • SMS / iMessage: SendBlue, Inc. delivers our text messages.
  • Hosting and database: Vercel, Inc. hosts this site. Supabase, Inc. provides our database and authentication.
  • Product analytics: PostHog, Inc. captures anonymous and pseudonymous product analytics and session replay, subject to our cookie controls.
  • Advertising: If you arrive from an ad, Google, Meta, Microsoft, or similar networks may record the conversion using cookies or conversion APIs. We share only the minimum needed to measure ads we ran.
  • Depots and carriers: To fulfill your order, we share your delivery address, contact info, and order details with the depot and the trucking company handling your delivery.
  • Legal and safety: We may disclose information to respond to lawful requests, protect our rights, or protect the safety of our team or the public.
  • Business transfers: If we merge with, sell to, or are acquired by another company, information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to confidentiality.

5. Cookies and analytics

We use a small number of first-party and third-party cookies to remember your ZIP, keep you signed in if applicable, run analytics, and measure ads. You can disable cookies in your browser, but parts of the site (quote status, saved carts) may stop working. We respect the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a valid opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information for residents of jurisdictions where that is required.

6. Data retention

We keep quote and order records for as long as needed to support warranty claims, price matches, and legal obligations (typically up to 7 years for financial records). We keep marketing consents until you unsubscribe. We aim to delete or anonymize the rest as soon as it is no longer needed.

7. Security

We use industry-standard controls including TLS in transit, encryption at rest for our database, least-privilege access, and audit logging. No system is perfectly secure; if we suffer a breach that affects your information, we will notify you as required by law.

8. Your rights

Wherever you live, you may:

  • Ask what personal information we have about you and get a copy.
  • Ask us to correct information that is wrong.
  • Ask us to delete your information, subject to legal retention limits.
  • Opt out of marketing email and SMS at any time.

Email chris@containers.direct and we will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

9. California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, the CCPA / CPRA gives you the right to (a) know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, use, disclose, and share; (b) delete personal information we collected from you; (c) correct inaccurate information; (d) opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising; and (e) not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information for money. To exercise any right, email chris@containers.direct.

10. EU / UK residents

If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, our legal bases for processing are (i) performance of a contract when you request a quote or buy a container, (ii) your consent for marketing emails and SMS and for non-essential cookies, (iii) compliance with a legal obligation, and (iv) our legitimate interests in improving the site, preventing fraud, and running the business, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights. You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

11. Children

This site is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. International users

We operate from the United States. If you access this site from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., which may have different data protection rules than your home country.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we make material changes we will post the new version with a new “last updated” date and, where required, email or otherwise notify you.
